20-Year-Old Who Rammed Officer With Mercedes Nabbed On Long Island, Police Say

A 20-year-old man accused of intentionally striking a Long Island police officer with his car has been arrested.

The incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, in North Lindenhurst, during a confidential police investigation on 50th Street, according to Suffolk County Police.

Detectives said Christian Castillo, of Ronkonkoma, drove his Mercedes Benz C20 into two police vehicles and purposely struck an officer who was on foot. He then fled the scene.

The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and underwent treatment at a hospital, police said.

On Saturday, April 15, officers spotted Castillo on Long Tree Lane in Moriches and arrested him on the following charges:

  • Second-degree assault
  • Two counts of third-degree criminal mischief
  • Resisting Arrest

Castillo was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in central Islip on Sunday, April 16.
